Our Cornmeal is made from open-pollinated, non-GMO Hickory King yellow dent corn grown using traditional, horse-powered farming methods. The corn is harvested by hand, shelled manually, and produced from seed we have saved and selected for more than 30 years.
After harvest, the whole kernels are stone milled locally at the Homestead Gristmill using time-tested milling techniques that preserve natural oils, flavor, and nutrition. This slow milling process produces a rich, aromatic cornmeal with excellent texture and baking performance.
Perfect for cornbread, muffins, pancakes, hushpuppies, and traditional Southern recipes, this cornmeal delivers deep corn flavor you won’t find in industrially processed products. From seed to stone mill, every step reflects careful stewardship, craftsmanship, and respect for old-fashioned foodways.
